Over 2 million Muslims journeyed to Mecca, Saudi Arabia this week. This journey is a required pilgrimage for all Muslims. It is called the “Hajj.”
While there, pilgrims have limited time to complete a variety of rituals. Witnesses say huge crowds rushed around completing the rituals.
On Thursday, 2 massive crowds converged and started shoving. A stampede ensued leaving 717 people dead and 900 injured.
