Strategic city falls to ISIS after months of fighting.

ISIS launched an all-night offensive in Ramadi and captured strategic buildings.

  1. Ramadi is in central Iraq. It has a population of ~200,000.
  2. ISIS and Iraqi forces have been fighting over it for months.
  3. Thursday night, ISIS launched a massive offensive.
  4. It included suicide bombers in cars with explosives.
  5. The fighting continued through the night and into Friday.
  6. ISIS’s black flag has been raised over the main gov’t building.
  7. They also captured the police headquarters.
  8. 114,000 people fled Ramadi to Baghdad, just 70 miles east.
