San Francisco cops’ texts prompt huge investigation.

An Ex-San Francisco Police Department sergeant's racist texts have sparked an investigation into more than 3,000 cases.

  1. Ian Furminger is a former San Francisco Police sergeant.
  2. In December, he was convicted of corruption.
  3. He had been stealing from suspects arrested for drug charges.
  4. He was sentenced to 3 years and 5 months in prison.
  5. At his bail hearing, prosecutors submitted his text messages.
  6. They were filled with racist and homophobic messages.
  7. 14 officers involved in the texts are under investigation.
  8. 3,000 cases investigated by the 14 officers are being reviewed.
  9. 8 of those cases have already been dismissed due to bias.
