  1. The Patriot Act was passed into law in 2001 after 9/11.
  2. 3 key provisions in it allow the NSA to record your phone calls.
  3. Those 3 key provisions expired June 1 at midnight.
  4. This means the NSA can’t record your calls anymore.
  5. Investigations started before June 1 can still use Patriot Act.
  6. The USA Freedom Act is a reform law being debated in Senate.
  7. The act restores 2 of the expiring 3 Patriot Act provisions.
  8. But it heavily reforms the phone call recording provision.
  9. NSA & FBI would have to get a warrant to access your calls.
  10. The USA Freedom Act could be passed middle of this week.
